Children at Asquith Epsom Day Nursery were excited to open an envelope sent in from Buckingham Palace on Monday, August 20.

Around 20 children at the nursery had posted cards and letters to Clarence House in May to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their wedding.

The postcard from Buckingham Palace is a photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posing on the East Terrace at Windsor Castle with a short message printed on the back.

It reads: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did.

“It was really most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes”.

Bev Russell, assistant manager at the nursery, said: “The children designed cards after researching the royal family and Windsor castle, listening to the news and talking about the up and coming wedding at nursery and home.

“Some children used their skills in writing to compose letters of congratulations. The children drew pictures including Windsor Castle and members of the royal family.

“We have today shared the letter of wishes with the children who were very excited to see what was in the envelope once informed it was from Buckingham Palace.”
