A school has raised over £1000 for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Stamford Green Primary School students wore wigs, hats or headscarves to school to raise money for the NHS foundation trust.

The idea came from year 5 children, whose teacher has been undergoing treatment at Royal Marsden in recent months.

They felt this was a way of showing empathy for cancer patients. A school spokesman said: “There was a real buzz about the school as everyone from nursery to Year 6, staff and even parents entered into the spirit of the event. All donations have now been counted and the total raised was a phenomenal £1,166.09.”
