An Epsom decorator has won a spot in the final of Britain's Top Tradesperson with the chance to win a £33,000 Mitsubishi pick-up truck.

Christina Valentine, 52, a decorator, is one of 10 finalists to attend the final at Twickenham Stadium, which takes place all day on Friday, July 27.

Valentine, who has so far beaten more than 3,000 competitors, will face a panel of expert judges who will be rewarding the best tradesperson in Britain.

Valentine said: “I’m delighted to be in the national final! To be recognised for the hard work that I put in means so much and I’m looking forward to meeting the judges and the other finalists too.

“I’m extremely enthusiastic about my work and always give 100 percent - I can’t wait to show the judges what I’m made of, and to make my daughter, my partner and my customers proud!”

Valentine, who has participated in decorating projects at women’s refugees, said that should she win the final, she hopes it will inspire girls to pursue a career like hers.

Caroline Welsh, Director of Brand and Marketing at Screwfix said:“We first launched this competition nine years ago and it has remains the title that the nation’s tradespeople want to win. In the regional heats Christina impressed us with her positive attitude and energy.

“The title of Britain’s Top Tradesperson is only given to those who demonstrate that they represent all that is great about the nation’s tradespeople. I’m looking forward to seeing Christina at the final!”
