The addition of a famous suffragette to Epsom town centre is inching closer to reality.
The group looking to install a life-size statue of Emily Wilding Davison has now launched its own website in the hopes of attracting more awareness to the project.
The website details the Emily Davison Memorial Project and other national events to mark VOTE100.
It also also features Ms Davison's timeline, looking back at her life from her birth in 1872 in Blackheath, London to her death in the Old Cottage Hospital, Alexandra Road, Epsom on June 8, 1913.
Epsom woman Sarah Dewing praised the move.
“The launch of the website is a major step forward to making the memorial to Epsom’s famous suffragette a reality," she said.
"It will help us to spread the word and raise awareness about the project, Emily herself and her importance to the history of Epsom and Ewell.
"I would like to thank everyone who has supported us up to this point and those who do so in the coming months.”
Both Epsom & Ewell Council and Surrey County Council are supporting the installation in the market square as part of its redevelopment, and corporate sponsors are being sort to fund the project which will cost in the region of £65,000, with a view to unveiling the statue in June 2019.
