The ribbon of the new seven-day-a-week Post Office in Burgh Heath has been cut by Reigate and Banstead MP Crispin Blunt and mayor Councillor Roger Newstead.

Now officially open, the branch at Londis in The Parade, Brighton Road, will be run by postmaster Maddy Sivarupan, who has run the Londis store with her husband Selvarathin for ten years.

Mrs Sivarupan, said: “Customers are very happy and excited to have a Post Office in this shop. Since the Post Office has been here, there have been people who have not been to our shop before and whilst they are here they often buy goods from the shop, which is good for our retail business.

“There are many elderly people in this area, so it is good that there is a conveniently located Post Office nearby. Our wide range of products and services mean that we are here for the whole community and we can also do banking for all the major banks.”

The branch is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm, and on Sunday from 8am to 2pm.

Mr Blunt welcomed the Post Office opening, as well as the recent government announcement of up to £370million of investment in the service to protect it nationally.

He said: “Post Office branches are at the heart of our local communities providing customers and small businesses with a wide range of important services.

"The opening of this branch in Burgh Heath is really good news for the community.”
