A man has been arrested following an armed robbery near Banstead train station on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and has since been released on bail, pending the outcome of further enquires.

East Surrey CID Detective Inspector Jackie Elkins said: “We would still like to hear from you if you have information.

"The robbery happened shortly before 7.30am on Wednesday morning and involved two individuals, believed to be a man and woman, threatening a man on a wooded bridlepath that runs parallel to the station. After, the man and woman headed onto Nork Way and down to Nork Gardens.”

The pair were both were wearing black hoodies and black trousers/jeans and the woman is believed to be in her late teens, early 20s.
