A 91-year-old woman lost almost £1,000 after being scammed, and police have released images of a man they want to talk to in connection with their investigation.

The woman, from Ewell, was the victim of “courier fraud”, whereby a person calls saying they are from the bank, or sometimes police, and convinces the victim their card has been cloned.

They convinced the woman to give some details, before arranging for a “courier” to collect the cards.

Someone arrived later that day to pick up the cards – he is described as white, 30 to 40 years old, about 6ft 1ins tall, slim and with short dark brown hair; he was wearing a long-sleeved jacket and jeans.

The victim cancelled her cards, but they had been used at a cash machine and at three stores in the area.

Police are asking anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images to call 101, or 01483 571 212, quoting reference 45180030364.
