The Epsom Model Railways Show is going full steam ahead this month.

It's on track to be held at NESCOT in Reigate Road, on April 28 and 29.

This year one of the visiting layouts, Scratchy Bottom, is based on the whimsical cartoons and creations of Rowland Emmett.

Peter swift, club secretary at Epsom & Ewell Model Railway Club, said: "The show offers something for all the family and enthusiasts alike.

"We have endeavoured to maintain the Club tradition of presenting a high quality show, which allows visitors a chance to see some of the best layouts plus modelling demonstrations within this fascinating hobby of ours."

The layout captures the bizarre looking locomotive and coaches that were featured in Punch Magazine that parodied a pre-Beaching rural branch line.

Other guest layouts include a more natural looking portrayal of steam, diesel and electric traction in action at various UK locations.

The journey, which zig-zags around the nation, starts on the Sussex coast, onto the Isle of Wight, westwards to Devon, back to Somerset, across to Norfolk, eastwards to Staffordshire, and then into North Wales before heading up to the North East and ending in Scotland.

For those seeking a continental trip we can offer not one but two layouts featuring the railways of Switzerland.

Younger visitors can drive a train on ‘Hornby Junction’. Children of all ages can take a ride on the miniature steam railway operating in the car park.
