Ebbisham Sports Club celebrated a huge £17,060 funding boost to its refurbishment scheme last week thanks to SUEZ Communities Trust.

The club, in Eastway, got the news from generous benefactor SUEZ Communities Trust on Wednesday, March 14.

It describes itself as “the first choice for badminton, squash, racketball and tennis in Epsom”.

Membership has increased by 30 per cent in the last 18 months and opened up court availability to the general public and local businesses.

The next project is refurbishment and redecoration to improve the club environment further for members and the local community.

Chairman Colin Shermer said: “This grant from Suez Communities Trust means we have been able to accelerate or upgrade plans for the club which is at the heart of the Epsom community with over 100 members and visitors per day.

Marek Gordon, chairman of SUEZ Communities Trust, added: “SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through the Landfill Communities Fund.

“This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.4 billion.

“We were delighted to be able to offer funding to Ebbisham Sports Club.”
