Leatherhead, Ashtead, and other towns under Mole Valley's jurisdiction will be affected
Mole Valley District Council is proposing to increase parking charges from 60p to £1 per hour from August 2018.
Councillor David Mir, executive member for environment and parking said: “We understand some people will be concerned by the increase but, having successfully held parking fees at a very low rate since 2009, the time has come to bring them in line with comparable areas."
He added that the council will be providing some free parking bays in the Swan Centre in Leatherhead and in Ashtead and said the new parking increase was still competitive.
