Restaurants, takeaways, shops and even a children’s soft play café are among the businesses to have been rated poorly for food hygiene in Epsom, Ewell and Leatherhead in the past six months (July 2017 to January 2018).
Amani (due for re-inspection) and Leatherhead Golf Club are the only places with the worst possible food hygiene score of zero, but there are plenty in this list with a score of one.
Browse through the gallery above to view all the businesses with zero or one-star ratings.
The ratings have been given to businesses to reflect the standards of food hygiene found when they were inspected by food safety officers from their respective councils over the past six months.
These details have all been published on the government’s Food Standards Agency website.
All the businesses featured in this article were inspected from July 2017 and the details were accurate as of January 15, 2018, according to the Food Standards Agency website.
As all the details are correct, we will not remove anything. However, we will update this page with any responses from the business owners explaining why they got a low score and what they’ve done to fix the problems.
If you are the owner or manager of one of the food outlets, you can submit your comments to sophie.jones@newsquest.co.uk.
Inspectors check the following three elements:
1. How hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored
2. The condition of the structure of the buildings – the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities
3. How the business manages what it does to make sure food is safe and so that the officer can be confident standards will be maintained in the future
