An Epsom care home is inviting parents and toddlers from the local community to join residents for a relaxing morning of coffee and catch-ups.

The team at Appleby House care home in Longmead Road has created a new children’s group at the home, and will be welcoming the local community to join them each week to spend time relaxing with residents.

The group has already hosted a successful first session, welcoming eight mums and toddlers from the local community, who enjoyed spending time chatting with the residents over a cup of tea.

Shona Bradbury, home manager at Appleby House, said: “The residents have enjoyed helping us set up and decorate the space, and loved spending time with the parents and their children playing a variety of games.

“Intergenerational relationships have been proven to be beneficial to older people, and it was certainly a highlight of the day for the residents at Appleby House.

“The first day at the children’s club proved to be a success, and we look forward to welcoming parents and toddlers from the local community to our future sessions.”

The care home home provides residential and specialist dementia care, as well as short term respite care.
