A family from Banstead is holding a golf day this weekend to celebrate the life of a loved one who passed away from cancer this year.
All proceeds will go to The Royal Marsden Hospital where Lisa Jones was treated for one year before passing away aged 36.
Her husband, Rob Jones, has organised the event at Horton Park golf course this Saturday, September 16.
Rob told Epsom Guardian: “Our two boys Luke, 10, and Sam, 6, both play golf. We always spend a lot of time in Horton.
“I wanted to try and have something where the boys can have a memorial day for their mum when they grow up.
“It felt right because of the time we have spent there with the boys and Lisa used to come out there and watch.”
An auction will be held where businesses have donated some desirable prizes to raise funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Rob said: “We have some amazing donations. To be honest it’s been fantastic. It started as a little idea, I was thinking maybe 30 or 40 people just to play golf. It’s just grown and it’s been amazing.
“The support of people who want to take part has been overwhelming.”
Auction prizes include:
A signed Henrik Stenson flag
New Callaway Epic Driver
A box at Ascot
A box at Fulham Football Club
Bushnell GPS Rangefinder watch
Portrush, Northern Ireland Golf Break
England International Cricket tickets
One year car insurance from Towergate
Body massage by Love Beauty
So far 92 people have signed up to play.
