If you ever wished you could bring your pet along to church with you then here is your chance.

Christ Church in Epsom is celebrating its bi-annual Pet Service on Sunday (August 20). Starting at 10am, it is an opportunity to bring along your favourite animals. Recent years have seen dogs, cats, a Guinea Pig and even a horse.

Animal loving vicar, Revd Rosemary Donovan said: "I walk my dogs on the Common every day and regularly meet a variety of other creature’s squirrels, foxes and deer, as well as other dog walkers and their companions. I am reminded that half my parishioners have feathers or fur! Our previous Pets services have been very popular and we look forward to welcoming more this weekend."

You can expect a bit of extra noise compared to your regular service but to avoid any unnecessary trauma all dogs should be on leads and cats in baskets. People may also bring photos of those they have loved but see no longer to give thanks for them. All animals will receive a blessing.
