Richmond has the most vibrant economy of any London borough, according to a new report.

As well as being top in the capital, the south-west London borough was third nationally - behind only Cambridge in first place and Oxford in second - Vibrant Economy index published by accountants Grant Thornton.

The index ranked 324 local authority areas on six categories considered vital to a thriving economy, with Richmond scoring particularly highly on residents’ health, wellbeing and happiness along with community, trust and belonging.

Cllr Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council's cabinet member for environment, business and community, said: “We knew it all along and this latest study simply confirmed it - Richmond is the best place to live and work in London and our residents and businesses are the happiest people you could hope to meet too.

“I'd go a step further and say Richmond is the best place to live in the country. Our local resident Sir David Attenborough has lived here all his life and although he may have been to every corner of the earth, he said Richmond is his favourite place on the planet.”
