“Will driverless cars cause more problems than they will solve?” This was the topic for debate when transport secretary Chris Grayling visited an Epsom school last weekend.

The Epsom and Ewell MP presided over the debate at Epsom College on Saturday, November 19.

Your Local Guardian:

The debate amongst Year 9 pupils at the school in College Road was initiated by VotesforSchool, an educational voting platform that visits different schools every week.

Chris Grayling, The Rt Hon MP for Epsom and Ewell said: “VotesforSchools is a great way to engage young people with current affairs in the classroom, with an online weekly vote on a topical issue.

“It gives them the tools to understand the democratic process and the importance of informed decision-making."

Votesforschools has been used by thousands of young people in Secondary and Primary schools.

Every week, pupils vote on an issue inspired by the news agenda.

Vivienne Creevey, CEO and co-founder, VotesforSchools, said: “Our voting platform connects young people in schools with the issues of the day, encourages debate and a voting habit we hope will last for life.

“Teachers are at the heart of the development of VotesforSchools, so we can be confident it completely meets their needs.”
