A silver tray decorated with tulips was stolen during a burglary from a home in Epsom last week.
Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary in Hamilton Close, Epsom, or anyone who may have been offered the tray after the theft.
Officers believe the burglary took place sometime between 6.30pm on Wednesday, September 7 and 10.30pm on Thursday, September 8.
It is currently believed that the tray was the only item stolen.
PC Andrew Kim, who is leading the investigation, described the tray as “unique and easily identifiable”, and said it had Art Nouveau tulip handles.
He added: "I would like to hear from anyone who may have been offered this silver tray second-hand or with any information on what happened to the tray following the incident."
To offer information, call Surrey Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 45160078949.
Or to offer information anonymously, call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
