A 32-year-old man from Epsom has been charged with nine offences including rape and kidnap after a teenage girl was stabbed on Friday night.

Costica Voedes, 32, of High Street, Epsom, has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of rape, kidnap, false imprisonment, possession of an offensive weapon, affray and common assault.

Surrey Police said the charges relate to an incident which took place shortly after 10.30pm on Friday, June 17 at Pizza Hut in Waterloo Road and Court Recreation Ground in Epsom.

A 17-year-old girl was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting after being stabbed in the abdomen. Surrey Police described her injuries as serious but not life threatening.

Mr Voedes remains in custody and is due to appear at South East Surrey Magistrates Court in Redhill on Monday, June 20.
