A pedestrian suffered a broken leg after a hit-and-run in rush hour traffic in Leatherhead yesterday afternoon.

The victim, a man in his thirties, was hit by a black car at the corner of the Leatherhead by-pass and Copthorne Road, Leatherhead just before 5.35pm on Tuesday, May 24.

The driver failed to stop at the scene.

Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) attended and took the man to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey.

Surrey Police said it was believed the man underwent surgery on a broken leg.

PC Steven Braine, from Surrey Police Roads Policing Unit, said: "This incident happened at a very busy time of day in rush hour traffic and I believe a number of people witnessed what happened.”
