Former England cricketer Phil Tufnell dropped in to sample some sweet treats at his local bakery as it prepares for National Doughnut Week and for its 25th anniversary.

The Chalet Bakery in Tadworth High Street baked Tufnell some silver doughnuts ahead of its silver anniversary this month.

The bakery will also be supporting The Children’s Trust during National Doughnut Week by donating a cut of its sales to the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injuries.

The charity’s national specialist centre in Surrey provides rehabilitation for children with acquired brain injury following a serious accident or illness, providing a range of therapies to help them make the best possible recovery possible.

The centre is also home to the charity’s residential school and nursing services for children with complex medical needs.

Phil Tufnell, who is an ambassador of The Children’s Trust, said: “Everyone deserves a treat now and then.

“It’s a fun way to treat family, friends and work colleagues to a mouth-watering doughnut and, at the same time, raise money for a very special charity.”

Hannah Gambin, manager of The Chalet Bakery, added: “We are delighted to be supporting this annual fundraising week.

“Special silver-themed doughnuts, as well as other flavoured doughnuts, will be available to buy, with a percentage from sales being donated to The Children’s Trust. “We hope that our kind-hearted customers will also get behind this event and perhaps treat themselves.”

The week will run from Saturday, May 7 to May 14.
