Friends and family of a tragic couple from Tadworth who died within hours of each other have paid tribute to a "good friend", a “beautiful sister” and a “wonderful husband”.

Lee Taylor, 48, was found dead on Sunday – the day after the unexpected death of his wife Carole Taylor, 45.

One of their neighbours in Headley Drive, Tadworth said she believed that Mrs Taylor had died from a stroke on Saturday, April 23.

Mr Taylor was reported missing after he was dropped off at his home by family members at about 8pm that evening.

A police search was launched and a body was found in Dorking at about 11.25pm on Sunday, April 24.

Mr Taylor's daughter Lauren posted a photo of her father (above) on Facebook in a white t-shirt, raising a glass, in tribute.

She also wrote: "RIP dad. [I'm] going to miss you so much."

Carole’s brother Steve Pratt posted three pictures of the couple on Facebook and wrote in tribute: “My beautiful sister and her wonderful husband. The true meaning of forever true love. May you both rest in peace with each other.

"We will all be waving at the stars tonight knowing you two are together forever. We love you both.”

A friend of Mr Taylor, who did not wish to be named, said: “He was a very good friend and a good man.

“There are some of his family who do not know yet, so I wouldn’t like to say anything more.”

Members of the public posted missing person appeals on Facebook in a bid to find Mr Taylor on Sunday, and later shared their condolences after the discovery of his body.

Jenni Fullick wrote: “So sad, poor guy. He will be reunited with his wife who he obviously couldn’t live without. Rest in peace.”

Pauline Cumberland wrote: “This poor soul, he couldn’t live without the woman he loved. I hope they are reunited.”

Irene Carroll wrote: “How very sad to not be able to face life without his loved one. So much sadness for one family – my thoughts are with them. May they rest in peace together.”

A Surrey Police spokesman said: "A body, believed to be that of missing Tadworth man Lee Taylor, has been found in the Dorking area.

"The body was found around 11.25pm last night, April 24, during a search for the missing 48-year-old.

"Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of Mr Taylor has been informed.

"Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
