Have alien spacecraft visited the skies over Epsom, or was it just Billy Ocean and his lasers?

A testimony uploaded earlier this month to a website, space-man.de, devoted to tales of the paranormal and UFO sightings has described mysterious light patches roving at random over south London and north Surrey at about 11pm on Sunday, September 13.

The worried poster, who saw the lights from the window of his Epsom, said: "I saw a number of light patches move from various positions in the sky into a central point and out again.

"It was implausible that anything else would be capable of moving at the apparent speed that they moved.

"As I watched I became conscious of a very large area of sky that seemed to be slightly brighter than the rest positioned at the point where the white lights kept sweeping back to. It was very faint just a hint of greenish light barely perceptible in the clouds."

Ten minutes later he went outside for a closer view.

He wrote: "There was no sound or other sensation.

"The lights continued to sweep across the sky back into their central formation and out again to various random positions.

"Occasionally they came together to form a line and seemed to have beams of light from the front of the formation - it reminded me of the crown on the statue of liberty. Then they would resume their random movement."

The account is not the first of unusual lights appearing on that night in the region.

Christine Joanna Hart, who lives in Northcote Road, Twickenham, said she filmed the "bouncing" lights from her home on the same evening.

Surrey Comet:

She said: "Some of them were disappearing up and down, I said to my son, ‘guess what, I've seen a UFO’.

"It was awesome and the most exciting thing I have ever seen."

However more terrestrial explanations have been offered for the sightings - with Richmond Council pointing out a Billy Ocean gig was held in Redlees Park, Isleworth which included a laser light show.

An England 2015 spokesman also confirmed it had "undertaken a few lighting tests" at Twickenham Stadium that night and said this could have been the source of the strange lights.
