The promise of cheesecake galore saw customers flock to a Tadworth bakery, as it launched its week-long charity campaign alongside Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday.

Visitors of the Chalet Bakery, at 9 High Street, will be able to try some of their new cheesecake varieties, with 15p from each slice going to Macmillan, between September 4 and 12.

Bakery manager Hannah Gambin said: “Macmillan is a charity very close to our hearts so we’re really excited to launch this campaign.

"We hope both our old customers and new ones will pop in over the next week or so to try some of these new cheesecakes – and I’m delighted it’ll raise money for such a brilliant cause."

According to a Macmillan spokesperson, the money raised by the Chalet Bakery will be used directly to fund vital cancer services for people affected by cancer, from specialist nurses to grants for cancer patients with money problems.

Julie Holland, Macmillan’s South West London fundraising manager, said: “No one should have to face cancer alone.

“It’s supporters like the Chalet Bakery who help us be there for people and their families when they need us most."
