Bourne Hall Museum has been transporting its visitors back to prehistoric times with a number of fun activities.

The museum’s Kids Club has put on a range of cavemen themed events this month, including flint knapping and spear-making the Stone Age way.

Museum assistant David Brooks said: "Pre-history has just become part of the national curriculum for primary schools, so there has been an increase in interest.

"It’s one of the most important parts of our history that has been neglected until now.

"Parents tell us that their kids go home and make tools out of all the stones in the garden afterwards. They’re really enjoying it."

The museum has also recently purchased a range of replica pre-historic tools, which they will be loaning to local primary schools to be used as part of their lessons.

Bourne Hall Museum also has a range of activities to cater for other interests, including some based around Waterloo, the Victorian era, the Blitz and Ewell’s 'dark past'.

The flint knapping and spear-making were part of a programme of events taking place this summer. Also coming up on Tuesday, August 25, is an event where children can try their hands at cave painting.

On Saturday, September 12 they have the chance to learn about the bronze age.

On Thursday, August 27, the whole family has the chance to learn about Ewell’s prehistoric past on the Hidden Ewell walk.
