Students marked their school’s 50th anniversary by burying a time capsule.

Tadworth Primary School, in Heathcote, Tadworth, has been in existence for 140 years, but moved to its present site half a century ago.

Items included in the capsule were a school sweatshirt, information about the school’s logo, house badges and letters from every year group to their "friends in the future".

The children, staff and governors of the school were also presented with commemorative coins to help remember and commemorate the occasion.

Justin Kelly, headteacher, said he hopes some of the children and staff at the school today will be around and contacted when the capsule is unearthed in 2065.

He said: "I’m not sure that I’ll be around then. If I am, I’ll be 91.

"I believe the contents of the capsule have, in essence, captured what is special about our school."
