A popular village day is back with funfair rides, birds of prey, Morris men, a miniature train and even comedy wrestling giants.

Kicking off the day, there will be a procession of vintage, veteran and classic vehicles through the streets of Ashtead Village.

The family day will then get under way at playing fields where community groups, businesses and charities will run about 130 stalls.

Singer-songwriter George Foster and Downsmen harmony group are among the many performers set to appear at this year's festival.

Len Wood, from the organisers, Ashtead Rotary Club, says: "There’s something for everyone from the youngest child to the 90-year-old child!"

Kids can cheer on Mighty Mick and Terrible Ted as the Cumberland Giants do battle in a comedy wrestling show. Meanwhile keen cooks can take part in a bake-off which will be judged by a panel including local chef David Gillot.

This year there will be a new food court at the village day with authentic German sausages, a carvery, fish and chips, doughnuts and much more.

The Rotary club will announce the winners of awards for outstanding service to the community. To gain entry, programmes must be bought from shops in advance or at the gate on the day.
