The group of Surrey Downs GPs charged with buying hospital services for the area expects to run a financial deficit for the next three years.

At a meeting of Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group’s governing body meeting, held at Leatherhead Leisure Centre last Friday, Matthew Knight, chief finance officer, said the CCG has been "working closely" with NHS England since November on its recovery plan.

The plan will take three years, with the aim of a bringing the CCG back into the black in 2017 to 2018, but the parties have not yet agreed on the figures going forward.

Mr Knight said: "It doesn’t look like we will be expected to recover this deficit.

"We will need to get back to a recurring balance rather than recover the deficit incurred."

The CCG’s current deficit is £10.7m.
