Hundreds of motorcyclists rode bikes more than a century old from Epsom to the coast on Sunday.

Bikers came from all over the world to take part in the Pioneer Run. All the motorcycles involved in the ride were made before 1915.

Organiser Ian McGill, from the Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club, said 290 riders started off from Epsom Downs Racecourse on the trip to Brighton.

But 28 of them broke down on the way.

Mr McGill said: "We have quite a day of it. We have been running the event since 1930. This was the 76th event.

"We couldn’t run during the war and after the war there were two years of petrol rationing so we couldn’t ride then."

The run did not take place in 2001 due to foot-and-mouth disease and it was cancelled in 2013 because of snow and ice.
