Campaigners rallying to save the NHS from cuts and privatisation will be meeting in Epsom as part of a national day of action.

Members of the campaigning group 38 Degrees will be coming together in town centres across England on Saturday, February 28, to "stand up for our NHS".

In Epsom, activists will be meeting at 11am outside the Metro Bank in Epsom High Street.

The group is hoping to gather signatures for its local Save Our NHS petition.

"We'll remind people that our NHS is a precious, life-saving service and ask them to join us in saying no to cuts and privatisation," it said.

38 Degrees, which is funded by donations from its members, has 2.5m members in the UK campaigning on social issues for a "more progressive, fairer, better society".

Its campaigns, past and present, have encompassed tax dodging, trespass laws, saving forests, medical data and MPs’ expenses.

The group uses different methods to bring about change including petitions, contacting MPs and hosting discussions.
