Firefighters were called to fight flames coming out the back of a dustcart this morning.
A Banstead fire station spokesman said fire crews were called to Heathcote Road, Epsom, at 9.50am.
The binmen first noticed the flames as they emptied the bins at Swail House, a home for the blind on the corner of the road.
Watch commander Gareth Arnold, from Epsom fire station, said: “There was rubbish burning within the dustcart.
"We put that out. It was escorted back to the refuse centre in Longmead where it could be emptied.”
