The body of a teenager has been found in Oaks Park near a cafe off Croydon Lane.

The 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after officers from Sutton police and the London Ambulance Service arrived.

Local reports said the man was believed to have been found hanged.

Emergency crews were called by a member of the public at 10.38am yesterday.

A spokesman for Sutton police said: "A male, aged 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are not treating the death as suspicious.

“Next of kin have been informed."

The teenager was the second body found on Sunday after a man is his 40s was found in London Road, Wallington.

Oaks Park is a popular dog walking spot with well kept gardens and a cafe.

Graham Smales, 73, from Banstead, walks his dog through the grounds five to six days a week.

He arrived at the park yesterday a couple of hours after the body was found.

He said: "It's normally quite quiet, and when I got here at 1pm yesterday you could tell a commotion had just finished, however I only spotted one police car.

"There were many dog walkers around chatting about it and they were all in a state of shock.

"It is a horrible thing, and it must be ghastly for his family."
