Seven-year-old Alex Nikolov is too young to see the new film Kingsman: The Secret Service - even though he acted in it alongside Colin Firth.

Alex from Ewell Village was delighted to have been chosen to act in Michael Vaughn’s spy thriller, which goes on general release next Thursday, and shares the credits Michael Caine, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Adele and Eastender Samantha Womack.

But his mum Frances said although he walked down the red carpet, signed autographs and had photographs with the stars at the premiere in Leicester Square earlier this month, he was not allowed in to the screening.

Mrs Nikolov said: "The film is a 15 certificate so he is too young to watch it. We’ll have to buy the DVD and fast forward through the inappropriate parts."

His mother said: "It was an amazing night and Alex took it all in his stride. He had a great time and wants to do it all again."

Alex, who attends Ewell Castle School and loves espionage in real life, plays a younger version of Eggsy, a young protégé to Colin Firth’s character in the film.

Mrs Nikolov said the experience, and having been selected for a part at his very first audition, has fuelled his ambition to be an actor.

She said: "Alex is only in one scene but his scene is with Colin Firth and Samantha Womack, so for him it’s not really about the amount of scenes but with working with such great actors.

"He loves talking to adults so he loved meeting both of them, and Colin has boys so knew how to engage with Alex."

"Alex loves spy things and gadgets, on set he loved talking about the espionage scenes, so he really enjoyed the experience of acting in a spy film.

"He attends classes at Stagecoach Epsom which is linked to the casting agency, and it was through them that Alex was invited for audition.

"It was his first ever audition and he had two before he was offered the part, so he now thinks that you just turn up to audition and you’re given the part!"

Mrs Fowler, head of pre-prep at Ewell Castle School, said: "Alex is a happy, energetic and articulate little boy.

"We are delighted that he enjoyed this fantastic acting experience so much and we will continue to support and encourage his acting."
