A chef has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing at an Indian restaurant in Hook.
Aziz Miah, 53, of Clayton Road, is accused of trying to kill a 61-year-old man at the Red Rose of Chessington on Tuesday night.
He will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court this morning. He is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon - a knife.
A 38-year-old man, further arrested on suspicion of attempted murder last night alongside Mr Miah, has been bailed until late March.
A police cordon was also in place around an access alley behind the restaurant last night
Police were called to the restaurant, in Hook Parade, shortly after 7pm on Tuesday and found the victim being treated by diners, who had pressed napkins on his wounds to stem the bleeding.
The 62-year-old underwent five hours of surgery yesterday, Kingston police said, and has suffered “extensive” and life-changing injuries to one arm.
