A woman involved in a crash has said she had to take evasive action to avoid a speeding vehicle.
Zoe Ward said a white vehicle ran her VW off the road this morning at the junction of Epsom High Street and East Street.
Ms Ward said: “He came speeding round that corner and I had no other option but to drive into the barrier. He drove off.”
Workers from the council and RAC were seen extracting the car from the bent railings at 9.10am. The front of the VW was also damaged.
Peter Mugridge said he was sadly "not surprised at all" to see the smashed car on his way to work this morning.
Mr Mugridge said: "This location has seen identical crashes previously on more than one occasion."
He added: "I would expect quite a few prangs there given the way people drive round here.
"Just walking to or from work each day, 10 minutes each way, I will typically see half a dozen traffic offences and two to three very near misses. It’s that bad round here."
In a separate incident, an Epsom fire station spokesman said they were called to a car fire opposite Los Amigos restaurant in East Street at 4.30pm yesterday.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to put out the blaze.
