Firefighters doused a ground floor in water to put out a fire which started in the early hours of this morning.
A man was treated for smoke inhalation by firefighters at the house in Ockham Road South, East Horsley, but declined hospital treatment.
Fire crews from Painshill, Guildford and Leatherhead were called at 5.12am to the house fire which is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault.
A resident reported the road was blocked to traffic by police officers and firefighters, with only pedestrians and cyclists able to get through.
A firefighter at Painshill station said eight sets of breathing apparatus and eight hose reels were used to put out the fire.
Crews werew still at the house at 10am.
