Bridging a £54m funding gap has left the council leader worried about the future.
David Hodge, leader of Surrey County Council, confirmed that every child got a school place this year, but added "it was tougher than ever - and I'm not ashamed to say we made it by the skin of our teeth".
He said: "In truth, I am worried about the future, I am worried about how we ensure that all 3,000 Surrey children will be guaranteed a place next September."
Speaking to the full council on Tuesday, October 14, Coun Lodge said the expected government funding of £30m for the next academic year will be well short of the £84m needed.
