Green-fingered students are delighted to have been awarded a prestigious gardening award.
Banstead Community Junior School received a Gold award from the RHS South and South East in Bloom competition sponsored by Southern Water, for the second year running.
The school said it was the only one in the south east to be awarded a Level 4 Award in the South and South East in Bloom – It’s Your Neighbourhood competition.
This award is judged on community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement.
Staff and pupils at the school in The Horseshoe, Banstead, are celebrating the accolades.
Janet Marder who leads the gardening club said: “All the children in the school are involved with the school gardens through the curriculum, and the children who choose to come to gardening club love getting involved with all aspects of gardening in all weathers.
“Hopefully they will take their enthusiasm on to their next schools, and home to their own gardens.”
Mrs Marder picked up the award from TV gardener Chris Collins.
