Liberal Democrats Tom Brake and Paul Burstow attended a Better Together rally yesterday outside Waterstones in Sutton complete with a bagpipe player.
Mr Burstow said "I want to thank everyone who came and demonstrated their support for the UK.
"The message was clear. We don't want our family of nations to break up. We are better together.
"Many people have contacted me to say how much they wanted to attend the rally and wishing us well. With such short notice it was incredible how many people turned up."
Merton councillors of all parties showed their views last week at a council meeting by holding up Scottish flags.
