Firefighters and an ambulance are at the Hogsmill River after an elderly woman fell in while walking a plank.
Brian Angus, chairman of Ewell Village Residents’ Association, said he was walking along the river in Ewell, downstream from the Upper Mill, with his dog Bertie, when he spotted the woman, who he thinks is in her 70s, sitting on a plank of wood going across the river.
He said the woman had fallen into the river while making her way across on the plank.
Mr Angus said: "The emergency services rescued her and she had minor facial injuries.
"A stretcher has been brought out to her and fire crews are in attendance."
