Bastille Day heralded a milestone birthday celebration for a "happy-go-lucky" centenarian.
Sophie Bravery marked turning 100 on July 14, with a party at the Parkside Nursing Home, in Park Road, Banstead, where she has lived since January.
Born and brought up in Battersea, London, the great-grandmother was married to the late Sydney Bravery and is mother to Daphne, 78; David, 73; and Jayne, 56.
Mr Bravery said: "She is quite a happy-go-lucky person.
"It’s sad to see her get to this age and be put in a nursing home.
"She has been a very, very good mother."
