An actress who trained in Epsom is to due to join Coronation Street by the end of the year, in a storyline set to cause a stir.

Hayley Tamaddon, 36, who studied at Laine Theatre Arts, Epsom, is best known for playing Delilah Dingle in Emmerdale in 2005.

She will be joining the cast of ITV’s other popular weeknight soap in Weatherfield to play Steve McDonald’s classmate. She will make her television debut at the end of December.

The Blackpool-born actress is set to play Andrea, who is tipped to cause a stir on the Street, but the role is definitely not out of her comfort zone.

Writing on her official website about her time in Emmerdale, Tamaddon said: "I played havoc on the series with various love, comedy, and tragedy storylines. The producers loved writing for this feisty Northern lass... and I loved playing her."

Tamaddon graduated from Laine Theatre Arts in 1996 with a National Music Theatre Diploma and a Laine Theatre Arts Diploma and Associate Modern, which allows her to teach modern dance.

She used her dancing skills to wow audiences during her run with Dancing On Ice in 2010, where viewers voted for her to be crowned champion.
