A public spirited Epsom woman is trying to reunite a silver ring and its owner.

Sue Burrow found the ring on the pavement in The Greenway, Epsom, while out dog walking on the evening of January 6.

She tried to hand it in to police but couldn't take it to Epsom police station as she works in London and the station is closed on Saturday.

She said: "I was told I would have to take the ring to Reigate or post it to them at Epsom - surely not ideal to put such an item in the post?

"They were not able to tell me if anyone had reported a lost ring and said they needed to see it before checking.

"This seems ridiculous and just highlights the poor facilities now available to us from our police force."

So, instead, she put a notice in the window of the local shop but nobody has come forward.

Now Mrs Burrow is hoping that someone reading the Epsom Guardian will be able to reunite the ring and its owner.

She said: "Whilst probably not a family heirloom it probably has some sentimental value."
