Personal Overview - Has local government experience in the area, as the local Councillor for Ilford North, where he has held the responsibility for regeneration. He has shown support for the economic redevelopment of the area as well as improvement in local transport, including linking the Central line to Stansted Airport. He has also been Governor of several local schools and does a great deal of charitable work. He has worked with the first President Bush (1988-92) and other political figures in his role as a fundraiser for a large national charity. He has also Chaired the Essex Friends of Israel Group. Within Parliament he has shown an interest in transport issues, having been a Select Committee member and a Secretary of the All Party Light Rail Group. The 2010 parliament saw him become a PPS, an unpaid role and the most junior rung on the Government ladder.
