David Beckham has sung the praises of The Stone Roses
David Beckham has revealed listening to The Stone Roses brings back memories of the happiest time in his career.
The soccer ace - whose favourite Roses track is I Am The Resurrection - paid tribute to the band in the programme for their much-anticipated comeback show in Heaton Park, The Sun reports.
Becks apparently wrote: "The Stone Roses was part of my upbringing in Manchester. And being an East End boy, that's saying something.
"Their music has inspired so many people but for me it brings back memories of the most happiest time in my football career, when I started my career at Manchester United."
He added: "The fact that they are back is incredible to see."
The programme for Friday's homecoming gig also features high praise from famous fans Noel Gallagher, Take That's Mark Owen, and artist Damien Hirst, who claims the band are "more important than Picasso".
