Simon Cowell has apparently said the BBC have made the wrong choice by picking ageing crooner Engelbert Humperdinck to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest.

The X Factor music mogul reportedly told the Daily Star he would be interested in selecting the UK's Eurovision entry, and if he was in control he would not pick Engelbert.

Cowell said: "I think the BBC should have asked me for once to sort out the song.

"It wouldn't have been Engelbert Humperdinck, let's just say that."

The 52-year-old TV talent judge hinted he may be moving to the BBC to front a Eurovision talent search in the future.

"If I was asked, I'd do it properly. It will happen but I'm not going to give too much away."
