An all you can eat restaurant has created a 5ft cake in honour of the Queen’s visit to Merton.

The Queen visited Mitcham on Tuesday, May 15, for a British themed picnic at St Mark’s Academy in Mitcham – believed to be the Queen’s first ever to the borough.

In honour of her visit, chefs at Jimmy’s World Grill and Bar baked an extravagant 5ft cake featuring a detailed royal coat of arms made from coloured icing and decorated with "intricate" pieces of chocolate with ‘To Her Majesty, Welcome to Merton’ written across it.

A slice of cake will be packed and sent to Buckingham Palace addressed to The Queen.

Rajesh Selvaraju, restaurant Manager, said: "The whole of Merton is extremely excited by the news of The Queen’s visit and we wanted to do what we do best and that is to create something tasty.

"We would be delighted if she would come in for something to eat but we understand she’s extremely busy."
