German Riesling – Will we ever love it? Win a weekend break for two in Germany...

German Riesling – Will we ever love it? German Riesling – Will we ever love it?

Whilst the German wine industry may be forever associated (tainted?) with Liebfraumilch and Blue Nun it is making strenuous efforts to persuade us that they have much more to offer. The Riesling grape for instance is widely planted in Germany and is capable of producing superbly flavoured, delicate and well balanced high quality wines, ranging from medium sweet to dry in style. With health in mind the lower alcohol levels can be seen as an advantage. They are perfect for summer drinking and also complement a wide range of light dishes and Asian cuisine. The German Wine Federation is so keen for us Brits to love Riesling as much as they do that a “31 days of German Riesling” Campaign will run throughout July to encourage people to give Riesling a try. The campaign is supported by various wine merchants across the UK offering discounts on German Riesling wines plus a range of prizes, which includes a weekend break for two in Germany. To find out more, including where the campaign is running locally and when and where you can taste Riesling in all of its various styles for free, go to VillageWines.co.uk and click on special offers.
