Queen tribute band to rock Nonsuch Park

Witness a kind of magic when a Queen tribute band comes to Nonsuch Park.

At the Picnic in the Park concert The Bohemians will rock you in aid of St Raphael’s Hospice in North Cheam.

This is just one of the special events the hospice is organising to commemorate its 25th anniversary.

Kevin Goodwin, who re-enacts John Deacon as bass player, says: "I was lucky enough to see Queen twice and have been a lifelong fan, so when I was offered the job, it was an easy choice.

"Tribute bands are popular because people like nostalgia and they can’t see the act in real life anymore.

"People like to relive the experiences they may have had 20 odd years ago and new generations who weren’t there to see the original band can appreciate them today.

"People always dress up for our gigs - there’s always a few dressed up as Freddie Mercury in the audience."

The Bohemians have been performing their tribute act for 16 years and promise to re-enact the glory days of Queen.

Rob Comber’s outrageous stage antics and personality makes him the perfect Freddie Mercury.

Christopher Gregory gets as close as possible to Brian May’s inimitable style. Wayne Bourne hammers the tubs like drummer Roger Taylor and Kevin Goodwin provides that unmistakable Queen backline on bass.

They have performed all over the UK, Europe and the world at football stadiums, festivals and theatres.

Susannah Forland, events organiser at St Raphael’s Hospice, says: "We are so pleased The Bohemians are performing in aid of St Raphael’s Hospice.

"It will be a fun night - bring a picnic, dress up if you like and go back in time to the 1970s and 1980s."

People are encouraged to bring a picnic and to enjoy the evening in the beautiful grounds of the Nonsuch Mansion.
